Wolcott Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Ontario Rifle Theft
Lucas Burke, 23, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa after being convicted of stealing a rifle from East Side Traders, a federally licensed firearms dealer.
A Wolcott man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for the theft of a firearm from a licensed dealer in Ontario, New York.
Lucas Burke, 23, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa after being convicted of stealing a rifle from East Side Traders, a federally licensed firearms dealer.
According to court records, the incident occurred on October 7, 2023, when the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of intruders at the Wooster Way business. Investigators determined that around 4:55 a.m., Burke broke a window near the store’s entrance to gain access. Once inside, he took one rifle and attempted to steal two others but was unsuccessful.
The case was prosecuted as part of the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, which aims to reduce violent crime through community partnerships, targeted enforcement, and prevention programs. The investigation was conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Burke will serve his sentence in federal custody.
