The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday, February 6, until 10 a.m. Friday, February 7.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Wind Advisory for Wayne County and several neighboring areas, warning of strong gusts that could lead to minor damage and power disruptions.
The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday, February 6, until 10 a.m. Friday, February 7. Forecasters expect west winds between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Ontario, and Allegany counties.
Officials caution that unsecured outdoor objects could be blown around, and tree limbs may come down, potentially leading to scattered power outages. Residents are advised to take precautions, particularly when driving high-profile vehicles in open areas.
The NWS recommends securing outdoor furniture, decorations, and any loose items that could become airborne in the wind. Drivers should use extra caution, especially on highways and exposed roadways where wind gusts can make travel challenging.
