Wayne County to Host Legal and Future Planning Event for Seniors in May

The Wayne County Department of Aging & Youth will host a free educational event this spring aimed at helping older adults and their families better prepare for the future.
Scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the "Legal–Future Planning" event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Wayne County Health Service Building, located at 1519 Nye Road in Lyons. The event will take place in the first-floor Cornerstone Room.
Designed to equip seniors with valuable legal and safety information, the program includes a range of presentations by local experts on topics such as fraud prevention, senior living options, driver safety, and estate planning.
The event schedule includes:
9:00 a.m. – Registration
9:15 a.m. – Fraud and scams prevention with Justin McCabe of Lifespan
10:15 a.m. – Senior living options overview with Mike Kearney of the Senior Care Authority
11:15 a.m. – Driver safety for seniors, presented by Jason Klewicki of the New York State Police
12:15–12:45 p.m. – Complimentary lunch provided by Erie Shore Landing Cafe
12:45 p.m. – Smart meters and utility services explained by Timothy Winderl of NYSEG/RG&E
1:45 p.m. – Estate and advance directive planning in New York, led by Gavin Reynolds of LawNY
