Wayne County Seeks Senior Account Clerk for Mental Health Department

The Wayne County Human Resource Department has announced a job opening for the position of Senior Account Clerk within the Wayne County Mental Health Department. The position offers a starting salary of $21.08 per hour for 2025, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

The Senior Account Clerk role involves performing and supervising financial record-keeping and clerical tasks. Responsibilities include overseeing financial transactions, maintaining records, and ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping and payroll processes. The position may require the use of data processing and personal computer software.

Applicants must be able to work independently while following prescribed procedures and may supervise clerical staff. The role requires knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, office procedures, and business communication skills.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • A high school diploma and at least two years of experience in maintaining financial accounts and records.

  • An associate degree in accounting.

  • Completion of two years of college coursework, including accounting courses.

  • A combination of equivalent experience and training.

Educational qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants with degrees from institutions outside the U.S. must provide verification of equivalency at their own expense.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must have been legal residents of Wayne, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, or Cayuga counties for at least one month prior to the job posting date. The position remains open until filled, with an application deadline of 5 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025.
