Wayne County Seeks New County Administrator

Wayne County is searching for a new County Administrator, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the county’s operations, managing its $228 million budget, and guiding 28 county departments. The county’s Board of Supervisors is seeking an experienced and innovative candidate to fill the position.
The County Administrator serves as the chief administrative officer, working closely with the Board of Supervisors to ensure efficient government operations. Responsibilities include budget oversight, policy recommendations, and direct supervision of department heads. The role also requires strong communication skills to effectively interact with county officials, employees, and residents.
In Wayne County, we are known for our rich agricultural industry. We are the second-largest apple-producing county in the United States and are also recognized for our sour cherry and peach farming. The county’s diverse landscape includes significant waterfront areas, rural farmland, and growing tourism attractions such as the Lake Ontario Wine Trail and Seaway Trail. Wayne County consists of 15 towns and seven villages, with a growing population exceeding 93,000.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong professional presence, leadership skills, and extensive management experience. The minimum education and experience requirements for the position include:
A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and at least ten years of full-time management experience in a large, complex organization, or
A Master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration with at least eight years of relevant management experience.
Salary for the position is competitive, ranging from $144,013 to $194,419, depending on experience and education. The role also includes an excellent benefits package.
