Wayne County Seeks Compliance Officer for Mental Health Department
The Wayne County Department of Mental Health is seeking candidates for a Compliance Officer position, a role responsible for overseeing regulatory adherence and ethical operations within the department. The position is provisional, pending a Civil Service Exam, and offers a salary of $77,091 per year, along with a benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement options.
The Compliance Officer will play a key role in ensuring the Wayne Behavioral Health Network (WBHN) meets federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing compliance with Medicare and Medicaid billing standards, patient rights, vendor relationships, and employee screening requirements. The officer will also monitor the implementation of internal policies and ethical standards while working closely with the Mental Health Director and Compliance Team.
Applicants must meet specific educational and experience requirements. Candidates may qualify if they have:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Administration, or Social Work, along with five years of experience in a licensed mental health or healthcare setting, including at least three years in a managerial or supervisory role; or
An Associate Degree in a related field, with ten years of experience in mental health, hospital, or human services, including five years in a supervisory role.
Duties of the role include conducting internal audits, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, investigating reports of noncompliance, and organizing quality assurance and training programs for staff. The officer will also be responsible for reporting any legal or ethical violations to the appropriate authorities.
