Wayne County Seeking Assistant Public Defender

The Wayne County Public Defender’s Office is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Public Defender position. The role involves representing indigent defendants at various stages of legal proceedings, from arrest through appeal, as assigned by the Public Defender.
The position offers a salary range of $86,343 to $116,563, depending on experience, along with benefits such as regular raises, paid leave, health insurance, a New York State retirement pension, and tuition reimbursement.
Applicants must be licensed to practice law in New York State and have at least one year of experience in criminal law. Eligible candidates must also be legal residents of Wayne, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, or Cayuga counties for at least one month before applying.
