Wayne County has been awarded a $100,000 grant through New York State’s FAST NY program to support a pre-development project focused on industrial growth. The funding will be used to conduct a study evaluating water and wastewater infrastructure in key industrial areas.
The study will focus on Lyons Industrial Park and other industrial sites along the Route 31 corridor, which runs east to west through the southern part of the county. These locations were previously identified in a feasibility study as having potential for future industrial development.
Officials say the study will assess the capacity and needs of existing water and sewer systems, helping the county prepare for future projects and business investments. The initiative is part of Wayne County’s broader effort to attract economic development and support industrial expansion.
The funding comes from Empire State Development (ESD), which administers the FAST NY program to help communities improve infrastructure and site readiness for potential businesses.
Local leaders see the grant as an opportunity to strengthen Wayne County’s ability to accommodate new industries. The Wayne County Industrial Development Agency (WCIDA), which applied for the funding, expressed optimism that the study will help lay the groundwork for future economic growth.
Further details on the timeline for the study and next steps in the development process have not yet been announced.
