Wayne County Public Works Committee to Discuss Budget Amendments, Construction Projects, and Contracts
Wayne County's Public Works Committee is set to meet on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. to review various projects, budget amendments, and contractual agreements. The meeting agenda includes reports from the Weights and Measures Department and the Soil and Water Conservation District, as well as discussions on multiple resolutions related to county infrastructure.
The committee will consider a resolution to declare several county-owned vehicles as surplus. The vehicles, which include multiple Ford Explorers and Ford Tauruses from model years 2015-2018, will be put up for auction in accordance with the county's equipment disposition policy.
A proposed amendment to the 2025 Central Garage budget will be discussed, seeking approval to transfer $40,000 from the General Fund to cover overtime expenses due to an increased workload.
The committee will review proposals to establish new construction projects, including the North Huron Road Chip Seal Project and the Savannah Spring Lake Road Project, with a combined budget of $200,000. Additionally, completed highway construction projects from 2024 will be closed out, reallocating remaining funds to other county roadwork needs.
A resolution is expected to authorize the acquisition of permanent easements from local property owners for upcoming highway drainage projects. Affected properties are located in Williamson, Ontario, Walworth, and Wolcott.
Several resolutions involve authorizing contracts and bid awards:
Material and Equipment Procurement: Wayne County intends to participate in material bid contracts from neighboring counties, including Ontario, Monroe, and Livingston, to streamline procurement.
Roadside Spraying Services: A contract will be awarded to Chase Enterprises for vegetation control along county roadways, with a bid of $18,575.83, the lowest among three proposals.
Lubricant Supply: Brenntag Lubricants, LLC, will be contracted for motor oil, transmission fluid, and other lubricant supplies under a one-year agreement with an option for renewal.
Soil Boring and Geotechnical Services: Whitestone Associates submitted the lowest bid at $9,950 for soil boring work on Valley Drive in Rose.
Water Treatment for HVAC Systems: Feedwater Treatment Systems, LLC, secured a three-year contract for $29,820 to maintain HVAC water treatment services for county-owned buildings.
Cylinder Tank Leasing and Refills: Jackson Welding is set to receive a three-year contract for gas cylinder leasing and refilling services used by multiple county departments.
The meeting will also include updates from county departments and allow for public input on infrastructure-related matters. Decisions made during the session will be subject to final approval by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors.
