Wayne County Planning Board to Review Solar and Storage Projects
The Wayne County Planning Board is set to convene on March 26, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. to review several development proposals, including two solar energy projects and a storage facility expansion. The meeting will take place at the Wayne County Planning Department Conference Room on the second floor of 9 Pearl Street, Lyons. The session will be held in person, with no virtual option available.
According to the agenda, the board will evaluate special permit requests for two solar projects in the Town of Butler, both proposed by Solar Liberty. These projects, located at 4808 Wolcott Spring Lake Road and 5675 Westbury Road, aim to install 5-megawatt AC solar arrays. The board’s review will assess the projects’ compatibility with existing land use, traffic impact, drainage concerns, and overall community character.
Additionally, the Village of Sodus Point will present plans for a site plan approval and special permit for a development project at 7118 Route 14. The proposal, submitted under the name Martins Tide Sides, seeks permission to construct multiple storage buildings, including two measuring 60 by 120 feet, one at 100 by 60 feet, and another at 80 by 60 feet. These buildings would be situated within land designated as both Limited Commercial and Residential districts.
The board’s review of these proposals falls under General Municipal Law Section 239-l.2, which mandates consideration of intercommunity and county-wide impacts. Factors under review include traffic effects, drainage, land use compatibility, and adherence to local and county development policies.
Residents and stakeholders attending the meeting will be required to sign in upon entry. The meeting will also include a call to order, the Pledge of Allegiance, visitor introductions, approval of previous minutes, board communications, and staff reports.
