The Wayne County Finance Committee is set to convene on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., addressing a range of fiscal and administrative matters.
The meeting agenda includes the approval of previous meeting minutes and a series of resolutions referred to the committee. Updates will be provided by representatives from various county departments, including the Land Bank, Information Technology, Real Property Tax Services, and the Treasurer’s Office.
The Information Technology (IT) Department, led by Matt Ury, will present its monthly report, highlighting completed and ongoing projects. The department has processed 617 support tickets in February and continues its work on expanding multi-factor authentication and upgrading the county’s data backup infrastructure. Additional projects include implementing a new 911 Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and upgrading security cameras across county facilities.
Several resolutions are expected to be discussed, including:
Renewal of the county’s contract with Tyler Technologies for financial software maintenance, costing approximately $309,998.57.
Acquisition of secure file transfer software for the new 911 CAD system, with a proposed expenditure of $10,000.
Restructuring IT positions, including the creation of a Senior Network Technician role and the abolition of the Public Safety Technology Coordinator position.
Karen Ambroz, Director of Real Property Tax Services, will present her department’s monthly report. Key topics include the ongoing assessment roll revaluations in the towns of Lyons and Butler and the processing of correction of error requests. The committee is set to review three such requests from local property owners, all of which have been recommended for denial by the department.
Treasurer Patrick Schmitt will provide an update on tax foreclosure processes, noting that the final date to prevent foreclosure on unpaid 2023 taxes is March 28, 2025. The office has been actively working with property owners, entering into over 41 payment agreements in January to assist taxpayers in retaining ownership of their properties.
Additionally, the committee will discuss a resolution to transfer tax foreclosure litigation services from Boylan Code LLP to Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC. The move follows the announcement that attorneys from Boylan Code will be transitioning to the new firm.
County Attorney Dan Connors is expected to motion for an executive session to discuss ongoing litigation, settlement negotiations, and mediation strategies.
