The Wayne County Department of Mental Health has announced an open position for a Secretary II role, offering an annual salary of $44,024 along with a comprehensive benefits package. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
The Secretary II role is a professional, confidential clerical position that supports the department's administrative functions. Responsibilities include managing a variety of administrative, personnel, and legal documents, operating a personal computer for data entry and document creation, and handling sensitive information with discretion. The role requires independent judgment and a thorough understanding of office procedures, with the potential to supervise clerical staff.
Key Duties:
Collecting and reporting confidential, personnel, and legal information.
Maintaining departmental leave accruals, payroll data, and personnel reports.
Assisting in specialized administrative projects, including accounting and legal tasks.
Serving as a liaison during administrative meetings and maintaining official records.
Preparing correspondence, reports, and other documentation.
Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
An Associate degree in Secretarial Science, office technologies, or a related field with four years of professional secretarial experience, including one year at a senior level.
A high school diploma (or equivalent) with six years of professional secretarial experience, including one year at a senior level.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.
The position will be filled provisionally, pending the results of a Civil Service Exam. Applicants with degrees from non-U.S. institutions must provide independent verification of equivalency.
