Authorities noted that road conditions at the time were below freezing. Lonnie N. Spruiel’s 14-year-old daughter was reported to be a passenger in the back seat.
A Syracuse man was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Victor after authorities say he was driving at an excessive speed without a valid license.
According to law enforcement reports, Lonnie N. Spruiel, 42, was stopped on January 25 at approximately 4:47 p.m. on Interstate 490 after being observed driving a rental vehicle at 101 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone. Investigators determined that Spruiel was operating the vehicle despite having a suspended driver's license.
Authorities noted that road conditions at the time were below freezing. Spruiel’s 14-year-old daughter was a passenger in the back seat, while another occupant of the vehicle was the only authorized driver on the rental agreement and possessed a valid New York State driver’s license.
Following the investigation, Spruiel was taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child. He was issued traffic citations and an appearance ticket.
Spruiel is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
