Two-Vehicle Crash in Phelps Sends Two to Hospital

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 96 and Townline Road in Phelps resulted in minor injuries on Sunday evening, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. when a 2024 Kia, driven by 34-year-old Yu Zhong of Westwood, Massachusetts, was traveling north on Townline Road and attempted to make a left turn onto State Route 96. Deputies determined that Zhong failed to yield at the intersection, leading to a crash with a westbound 2020 Nissan operated by 64-year-old Rubin Marin of Newark.

Marin and a passenger in his vehicle sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Geneva General Hospital for evaluation. Zhong was cited for failing to yield while making a left turn.
