Two juveniles were taken into custody following a shooting incident in Lockport on the night of March 7, according to New York State Police.
Troopers from the State Police Lockport barracks responded to a report of multiple gunshots on Lockwood Drive at approximately 9:31 p.m. Upon investigation, authorities determined that a 16-year-old had fired multiple rounds from a 16-gauge shotgun from the porch of a residence.
Police arrested the 16-year-old, as well as a 15-year-old who was also at the scene. During the arrest, three responding troopers sustained minor injuries while taking the younger suspect into custody, according to officials.
Both juveniles were charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, three counts of second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. They were processed at the State Police barracks in Lockport before being issued appearance tickets for Niagara County Family Court. The juveniles were later released to an adult.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the motive behind the incident or whether any further charges are expected.
