Two Geneva Men Arrested in Canandaigua Traffic Stop on Drug Charges
Yokohiro Vidalortiz, 41, of Geneva, and Abdiel Velez-Sotomayor, 46, of Canandaigua, were arrested at the scene.
Two men were taken into custody late Sunday night following a traffic stop in Canandaigua, where authorities say a significant quantity of controlled substances was discovered in their vehicle.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted the stop at approximately 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Parkside Drive and Fire Hall Road. During the investigation, officers reportedly found a large amount of controlled substances in the vehicle.
The individuals, identified as Yokohiro Vidalortiz, 41, of Geneva, and Abdiel Velez-Sotomayor, 46, of Canandaigua, were arrested at the scene. Both were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree with intent to sell.
Additionally, Velez-Sotomayor faces two counts of tampering with physical evidence, according to law enforcement.
Following their arrests, the two were transported to the Ontario County Jail and were arraigned on their charges Monday morning.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the nature or quantity of the substances seized. The investigation remains ongoing.
