A routine traffic stop in Ontario County led to drug possession charges for two Canandaigua residents on Sunday night.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle on Collett Road in Farmington at approximately 10:31 p.m. on March 17 due to inoperable headlights and taillights. The driver, identified as 66-year-old Douglas R. Smith of Canandaigua, and his passenger, 36-year-old Jessica L. Gleeson, were found to be in possession of cocaine, authorities said.
Both individuals were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and were issued appearance tickets for an upcoming court date in Farmington Town Court. Smith also received traffic citations related to the vehicle's lighting violations.
No further details were provided regarding the circumstances of the drug possession. The case remains under investigation.
