A traffic stop in the Town of Farmington led to the arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges, according to a statement from the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Michael Anthony Benzer, 36, of Canandaigua, and Heather Nicole White, 40, of Shortsville, were stopped by deputies around 9:13 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 41 and County Road 8. Authorities say the vehicle was pulled over due to traffic violations, including a fractured windshield.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Benzer, who was driving, had a suspended license with seven prior suspensions. Further investigation at the scene allegedly uncovered narcotic drugs in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of both occupants.
Benzer faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (two counts), aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, and a vehicle equipment violation. White was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both individuals were transported to the Ontario County Jail, where they were processed and released with appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in Farmington Town Court at a later date.
