Traffic Stop in Lyons Leads to Felony Drug Charges

A routine traffic stop in Lyons late Monday night led to the arrest of a Sodus man on felony drug charges, according to New York State Police.
Authorities say a state trooper from the Lyons barracks pulled over a 2024 Mazda at approximately 11:05 p.m. on March 17 after the driver allegedly failed to signal while entering State Route 31 eastbound and exceeded the speed limit. The stop took place on Warncke Road in Wayne County.
During the stop, police identified the driver as Tony E. Hickey Jr., 54, of Sodus. An investigation led to the discovery of various narcotics and related paraphernalia, including approximately 117.1 grams of crack cocaine, 4.3 grams of an unidentified controlled substance, and 13.5 grams of buprenorphine, authorities said. Additionally, police reported finding an undisclosed amount of cash and digital scales.
Hickey was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Lyons, where he was processed and charged with:
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree (A-II felony)
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (B felony)
Following his arraignment, Hickey was remanded to the Wayne County Jail.
State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
