Syracuse Man Sentenced to More Than Five Years in Federal Robbery Case
A Syracuse man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for his role in a 2022 gas station robbery in Salina, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Quashawn Pettiford, 34, received a 71-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to interference with commerce through robbery. Following his release, he will serve three years of supervised release. He has also been ordered to pay restitution to the victims and forfeit $3,208, the total proceeds from the robbery.
According to court documents, Pettiford and two accomplices entered a gas station on January 11, 2022, wearing masks. The two other individuals carried BB guns designed to resemble real firearms. During the robbery, one of them pressed a gun to the store clerk’s neck while demanding the register be opened. The group stole approximately $1,200 in merchandise, $1,495 from the register, and $513 from the clerk’s wallet.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albany Field Office, with assistance from the New York State Police, Syracuse Police Department, DeWitt Police Department, and the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew J. McCrobie and Thomas R. Sutcliffe.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brenda K. Sannes handed down the sentence on Monday.
