Syracuse Man Charged in Village of Cato Theft Investigation

A Syracuse man is facing charges following an investigation into a reported theft at a hardware store in the Village of Cato.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Country Boy Hardware on January 24, 2025, around 6:40 p.m. after receiving a report of stolen merchandise. Security footage and further investigation identified the suspect as 35-year-old Eric T. Anderson of Syracuse. Authorities allege Anderson stole two 18-volt Milwaukee batteries valued at $498.
On February 8, Anderson turned himself in at the Public Safety Building, where he was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. Deputies noted that Anderson had multiple open petit larceny cases at the time of his arrest.
Following his arraignment in CAP Court, Anderson was released after posting $100 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ira Court on February 10 at 5:00 p.m.
