A local man has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection to a two-vehicle crash that occurred in December on State Route 31, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies reported that on December 7, 70-year-old David Brandt was driving an SUV when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) plow truck.
Brandt was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the plow truck was not injured.
Following an investigation, authorities determined that Brandt had been operating his vehicle while intoxicated, with a reported blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.18%. As a result, he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was also issued traffic citations for failure to keep right and unreasonable speed.
Brandt has been released and is scheduled to appear in Arcadia Town Court on February 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. to respond to the charges.
