SUNY Student Arrested Following Facebook Threat of Mass Harm

A SUNY Buffalo State University student was arrested on Sunday, February 23, after allegedly making a threat directed at a school, according to the Buffalo Police Department.
Authorities stated that the investigation began after a social media post, made on Saturday, February 22, was flagged by Meta and reported to local law enforcement. The Buffalo Police Department’s Threat Management Unit reviewed the report and obtained a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order (TERPO), which was approved by Honorable Judge Kevin Carter. This order included a provision allowing officers to conduct a search.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Thompson, 19, of Buffalo, has been charged with one count of making a threat of mass harm, a class B misdemeanor.
