Stolen Vehicle Recovered by Seneca County Deputies After Losing Tire, Driver Arrested
Upon investigation, deputies determined that the vehicle had been unlawfully taken from a local Seneca Falls business.
A Seneca Falls man was taken into custody in the early hours of February 14 following an investigation into a stolen vehicle, according to a report from Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson.
Steven Johnson, 49, of 55 W. Bayard Street, Seneca Falls, was arrested around 3:36 a.m. and charged with multiple offenses, including felony criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, felony grand larceny in the fourth degree, misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and several vehicle and traffic law violations.
The arrest followed an incident in which deputies allege that Johnson was observed driving a vehicle in a reckless manner. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after losing a tire. Upon investigation, deputies determined that the vehicle had been unlawfully taken from a local Seneca Falls business.
Johnson was processed and turned over to corrections staff, where he is awaiting arraignment through Centralized Arraignment Proceedings.
