Sterling Man Indicted on Child Exploitation Charges Following State Police Investigation
A 38-year-old Sterling man has been indicted following a nearly year-long child exploitation investigation by New York State Police and multiple investigative units.
Gregory D. Flynn was arrested on March 28, 2025, and is being held at Cayuga County Jail pending arraignment. His arrest follows an extensive inquiry led by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Auburn, along with support from Troop E's Computer Crimes and Forensic Investigation Units.
The investigation began in March 2024 when the State Police received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The tip alleged possession of child abuse material. Two months later, on May 29, 2024, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Juniper Hill Road in the town of Sterling, seizing multiple electronic devices for forensic examination.
According to police, forensic analysis revealed the presence of child sexual abuse material on several of the seized devices. Additional CyberTips were reportedly received by investigators throughout the ongoing case.
The findings were presented to a Cayuga County Grand Jury on February 5, 2025, which resulted in Flynn being indicted on 19 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and four counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
Flynn was taken into custody by State Police in Auburn and processed before being transferred to the Cayuga County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
