Authorities have confirmed that the body of 66-year-old Tadeusz Urbanowicz, of Penfield, was recovered from Cross Lake following an extensive search by the New York State Police.
Urbanowicz was reported missing on February 2, 2025, after he failed to return home from his cottage on Cross Lake. His wife contacted authorities when she was unable to reach him.
Search teams identified a possible location on the lake where a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) may have broken through the ice. The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) was deployed to investigate the site.
Following a thorough search, Urbanowicz’s body was located and recovered from the lake. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office initially handled the missing person case before it was transferred to the New York State Police when it was determined that Urbanowicz was last seen in Cayuga County.
