State Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Clayton
New York State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in the town of Clayton, Jefferson County.
According to authorities, the incident happened around 4:46 p.m. on March 27, when a Toyota Tacoma left the roadway along County Route 54 and struck a telephone pole. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Marc Bryan Gross of Evans Mills, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews were initially unable to access the vehicle due to live electrical wires from the damaged pole. National Grid responded to the scene to mitigate the hazard.
Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved and that Gross was the only person in the vehicle. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
