A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Route 414 in the Town of Rose resulted in minor injuries and a traffic citation, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash near Lyman Road at approximately 3:14 a.m. Investigators determined that the driver, identified as 70-year-old Melvin Vandyke, veered off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and came to a stop in the front yard of a residence on the east side of Route 414.
Authorities issued Vandyke a traffic ticket for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was transported to Newark Wayne Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Emergency responders from the Wayne County Ambulance and EMTs, North Rose Fire, and Clyde Fire assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
