Seneca County Sheriff's Office to Host Boater Safety Courses Ahead of 2025 Certification Requirement
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is offering a series of boater safety courses aimed at educating the public on responsible boating practices. The two-day evening sessions will be held at the John Walters Training Room within the Law Enforcement Center at 6150 Route 96, Romulus, NY.
New York State law will require all individuals operating a boat or jet ski to possess a Safe Boating Certificate by January 1, 2025. These courses provide an introduction to the fundamental principles of safe boating and are designed to help participants meet state certification requirements. Topics covered will include rules of navigation, required safety equipment, and boating regulations.
The scheduled class dates are:
March 27 & 28
April 24 & 25
May 19 & 20
Participants must attend both sessions to complete the course. The classes are open to individuals aged 10 and older, and seats are limited. There is a $10 fee for the permanent Safe Boating Certificate, payable to New York State Parks.
