Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Seeking Lateral Transfer Applicants for Deputy and Correction Officer Positions
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for lateral transfers to fill full-time positions for Deputy Sheriff and Correction Officer.
The agency is encouraging qualified law enforcement professionals to apply, highlighting a team-oriented work environment and opportunities for specialized training. In addition to traditional law enforcement responsibilities such as patrol, supervision, and criminal investigations, the office offers specialized assignments, including narcotics investigations, K-9 units, school resource officers, emergency response teams, marine patrol, underwater search and recovery, and drone operations.
To be eligible for a lateral transfer as a Deputy Sheriff, applicants must currently serve as a police officer or deputy sheriff in New York State and have been hired competitively through a New York State Civil Service List. They must also have completed their agency’s probationary period and the New York State Basic School for Police Officers or its equivalent.
For those seeking a transfer as a Correction Officer, candidates must currently be serving as a peace officer or correction officer in New York State, have been hired through a competitive civil service process, and have completed both their agency’s probationary period and the state’s Basic School for Correction Officers or its equivalent.
