Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Hosting Free Boater Safety Course
Under New York State law, as of January 1, 2025, all operators of motorized vessels are required to complete a boater safety course. Participants must register in advance, as seating is limited.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free boater safety course later this month for those looking to meet New York State’s boating certification requirements. The two-day session will take place on Tuesday, February 27, and Wednesday, February 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening. The course will be held in the Training Room at the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center, located at 6150 Route 96 in Romulus.
Participants must register in advance, as seating is limited. Registration can be completed online at https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/224217. Attendees are asked to park in the visitor parking lot and enter through the main lobby.

While the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is providing the class at no cost, those seeking a permanent boating certificate through New York State Parks must pay a $10 processing fee.
