Community members looking to experience traditional Scottish dancing have an opportunity to do so at weekly Scottish Ceilidh and Country Dancing events in Macedon. The gatherings take place every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 1185 Macedon Center Road and are open to the public.
Hosted by Macedon NY History, the dance nights aim to introduce participants to Scottish Ceilidh and country dancing, which are recognized as precursors to American square dancing. The sessions are led by Scot Graham-Raad, a certified instructor from the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.
Attendees do not need prior experience or Scottish ancestry to participate, and singles are welcome as no partner is required. Organizers recommend wearing soft-soled shoes for comfort.
The cost to attend is $5 per person per night. Those interested can reach out via email at psb@rochester.rr.com for more information.
