A Schenectady man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl pills, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Omar Wynn, 32, pleaded guilty to selling 1,500 fentanyl pills and 8.6 grams of cocaine base. The fentanyl pills were stamped “M30” to resemble oxycodone, authorities said. At the time of the offense, Wynn was on state probation for two prior felony cocaine convictions.
In addition to the 60-month prison term, U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino ordered Wynn to serve four years of supervised release and forfeit $3,000, the amount he made from the drug sales.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) with assistance from the Schenectady Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner.
