A Town of Savannah man has been arrested following an investigation into a domestic incident that resulted in a child being hospitalized after alleged exposure to a controlled substance, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies took William Smith, 54, of Wilsey Road in Savannah, into custody on January 29, 2025. Authorities allege that a minor child was exposed to a controlled substance, leading to hospitalization.
During a search of Smith’s residence, law enforcement reportedly discovered controlled substances. Smith now faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Following his arrest, Smith was transported to the Wayne County Jail, where he awaits arraignment in CAP Court. No further details have been released at this time.
