Rochester Trucking Company Owner Sentenced for Fraudulent Statements to Federal Authorities
A Rochester trucking company owner has been sentenced to 45 months in federal prison after being convicted of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Transportation and conspiring to do so, according to federal prosecutors.
Tony Kirik, also known as Anatoliy Kirik, 43, was found guilty by a federal jury of submitting fraudulent information to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) while seeking approval to operate as an interstate carrier. U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa imposed the sentence.
According to prosecutors, Kirik operated Dallas Logistics, a multimillion-dollar trucking business. During compliance reviews and safety audits, he provided false documentation regarding the company’s safety record, obscuring multiple violations. Prosecutors also said that to avoid scrutiny, Kirik established new trucking companies under the names of family members and an employee, falsely presenting them as separate entities when they were, in fact, extensions of his original business.
At trial, federal officials argued that Kirik’s actions compromised highway safety by allowing vehicles with unresolved safety concerns to continue operating.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General and the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division.
