A Rochester man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged shoplifting incident at a retail store in the Town of Ontario, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they arrested 37-year-old Carlos Melendez Roque after responding to a complaint at the Tractor Supply store in Ontario. According to investigators, Melendez Roque is accused of taking two surge rechargeable flashlights and a 10-piece socket set, with a total value of $104.97, without paying.
Law enforcement later located Melendez Roque at the Kwik Fill gas station in Ontario, where he was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny.
Authorities also noted that Melendez Roque was turned over to the Greece Police Department on an outstanding warrant for a separate petit larceny charge. He was issued an appearance ticket and is expected to answer the charges in court at a later date.
