A Rochester man found himself in and out of multiple county jails on Thursday after being arrested on multiple active warrants.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 40-year-old Ryan W. Bufano at the Monroe County Jail in Rochester around 4:59 p.m. on a warrant from Farmington Town Court for third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. His arrest came shortly after his release from Monroe County Jail on unrelated charges. Bufano was indicted two weeks ago by Monroe County on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree and two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree in relation to the illegal possession and sale of narcotics on March 12, 2024 and May 23, 2024.
Bufano was transported to the Ontario County Jail and later released on his own recognizance. However, authorities discovered he had an additional warrant in Genesee County. Following his release in Ontario County, he was transferred to the custody of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
Public records in Genesee County show Bufano was previously charged by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in December 2023 for allegedly possessing a stolen 2009 Chevrolet Impala in Bergen, NY. Bufano charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bufano also faced a seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charge after police allegedly found multiple bags of cocaine during a search.
It remains unclear whether the current Genesee County warrant is connected in any way to the 2023 incident.
