Rensselaer County Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Meth Distribution Charges
A Wynantskill man has admitted to distributing methamphetamine in Albany County, federal authorities announced Tuesday.
Justin Zimmer, 45, pleaded guilty in federal court to distributing more than 5 grams of pure methamphetamine on or around January 14, 2022. The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with the possibility of up to 40 years, and a term of supervised release ranging from four years to life.
Zimmer is scheduled to be sentenced on July 28, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino. The final sentence will be determined based on federal sentencing guidelines and other relevant factors.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with support from the New York Police Department’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Group, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Troy Police Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen J. Vickey.
