Queens Man Sentenced to 15 Months for Smuggling People Across Northern Border
Prosecutors said he transported three Bangladeshi citizens into the country near Westville, New York, on September 21, 2024, in exchange for financial gain.
A Queens man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for his role in smuggling individuals across the U.S.-Canada border, federal authorities announced Tuesday.
Atikur Razzaque, 28, of Ozone Park, pleaded guilty to charges of smuggling people into the United States and conspiracy to do so. Prosecutors said he transported three Bangladeshi citizens into the country near Westville, New York, on September 21, 2024, in exchange for financial gain.
According to court records, Razzaque also admitted to smuggling other individuals across the northern border in the past.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Paulbeck.
