A 62-year-old Ontario man was taken into custody following an investigation into multiple larcenies and a vehicle pursuit, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say James R. Clark was arrested after allegedly stealing items from three local businesses—Walgreens, Save-A-Lot, and Dollar General—on February 27. When deputies arrived to make contact with him, Clark reportedly fled in a vehicle, leading law enforcement on a pursuit that ended on Ridge Road in Ontario.
Clark then attempted to escape on foot, running through a residence before being subdued with a taser and taken into custody, officials stated.
He is facing multiple charges, including petit larceny, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, and reckless endangerment in the second degree. Authorities also cited him for several vehicle and traffic violations.
In addition to these charges, officials discovered Clark had multiple outstanding warrants for petit larceny and failure to appear in court. A bench warrant had also been issued for a previous case awaiting sentencing.
Clark was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Town Court on March 25 at 1:00 p.m. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.
