Police: Penfield Man Arrested for Child Pornography Threatened to Kill Investigators
A Penfield man has been arrested following an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material and alleged threats made against a law enforcement investigator.
According to the New York State Police, the investigation began on January 27, 2023, after authorities received 18 CyberTipline reports from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children regarding potential child abuse material. Following a search warrant execution, investigators determined that Ryon M. Shorter, 22, of Penfield, was in possession of files containing child sexual abuse materials.
On February 27, 2025, Shorter allegedly contacted State Police and made homicidal threats through phone calls and text messages directed at an investigator.
Shorter was taken into custody the same day and charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child under 16, a Class E felony, and second-degree aggravated harassment, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penfield Town Court on March 19, 2025.
Authorities have not provided further details on the nature of the threats or the content of the materials. The investigation remains ongoing.
