A Clyde man has been arrested on a grand larceny charge following an investigation into alleged fraudulent financial activity in Canandaigua.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, William B. Brownlee, 40, was taken into custody at his home in Clyde after authorities determined that he had written three checks on a closed account to the Canandaigua Federal Credit Union. The transactions, which took place between November 14 and December 30, 2024, amounted to a total of $7,660.
Brownlee was charged with grand larceny in the third degree. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail and later arraigned at CAP Court, where he was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to respond to the charge.
