Phelps Head Cheer Coach Charged with Stealing from Midlakes Cheerleading Booster Club
Authorities are asking anyone who paid for a dinner at the fundraiser by check or electronic means to contact Investigator Doug Smith.
A Phelps resident has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree following an investigation into unauthorized financial transactions involving the Midlakes Cheerleading Booster Club.
Tori A. Salato, 26, was arrested after authorities determined that between December 2023 and November 2024, more than $1,500 in unauthorized purchases were made using the booster club's account. Additionally, investigators examined a chicken barbecue fundraiser held for the club in July 2024, for which proceeds were not deposited. While an exact count of meals sold was unavailable, the catering service estimated around 100 dinners were distributed.
Salato was issued an appearance ticket and is expected to answer the charge in Phelps Town Court at a later date.
