Pennsylvania Man Arrested for DWI After Crash in Owego

A Pennsylvania man was arrested earlier this month following a motor vehicle crash in Tioga County.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, Edward J. Wirth, 21, of Friendsville, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody on February 9, 2025, after a crash on Sulphur Springs Road in the Town of Owego. Authorities determined that Wirth had been operating a vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol.

Wirth was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, along with other violations of New York State’s Vehicle and Traffic Law. He was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to be arraigned in Town of Owego Court at a later date.
