The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a 65-year-old Palmyra man on charges of driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop in the Village of Palmyra.
According to deputies, David R. Griffith Jr., of Turner Road, was stopped while driving southbound on State Route 21 near the intersection of East Main Street. Authorities allege that Griffith failed to signal before turning west onto East Main Street.
During the stop, deputies noted an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Following an investigation, it was determined that Griffith had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for chemical testing, which registered a blood alcohol content of 0.09%.
Griffith was processed and released with a court appearance scheduled at a later date in Palmyra Village Court to address the charges.
