A Palmyra man was taken into custody following an investigation into an alleged violation of an order of protection, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities reported that Brian E. Vancaeseele, 56, was arrested on March 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Ontario Street in Canandaigua. He was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a charge that applies in cases where an individual is accused of knowingly disobeying a court-issued protective order.
Following his arrest, Vancaeseele was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment. Details regarding the specific circumstances of the alleged violation have not been disclosed.
Law enforcement officials remind the public that an arrest is not a determination of guilt, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise in court.
