Pal-Mac School District Receives CPR Training Kit to Enhance Safety and Education
“These will help our community, students, and staff learn CPR,” said Board of Education member Dave Landon. “Hopefully, we never have to use them, but if we do, they could save a life.”
The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District has been equipped with new life-saving resources aimed at improving safety and emergency preparedness.
On February 18, during halftime of the Boys Varsity Basketball game, the American Heart Association (AHA) and Rochester Regional Health presented the district with a CPR training kit. The kit includes several manikins, face masks, and instructional materials designed to help students learn CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and choking relief in just one class period. Each kit has the capacity to train hundreds of individuals.
Several district representatives attended the presentation, including Board of Education members Dave Landon, Amy Bosel, Chris Doyle, Sherry Lambert, and Chad Lindstrom. They were joined by District Nurse Deborah Matzan and Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach Joe Hill.
“These will help our community, students, and staff learn CPR,” said Board of Education member Dave Landon. “Hopefully, we never have to use them, but if we do, they could save a life.”
According to the AHA, heart-related emergencies remain the leading cause of death in the United States, but bystander CPR can triple a person’s chances of survival.
The kits were awarded as part of Pal-Mac’s participation in the "Kids Heart Challenge," a program that promotes health and character-building while raising funds for heart-related causes. Several other school districts in Wayne County also received similar kits as part of the initiative.
