Ovid Woman Arrested for Alleged Welfare Fraud
Authorities allege that she submitted a falsified application to the Seneca County Department of Human Services, which resulted in her receiving more than $1,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 27-year-old Ovid woman on charges related to welfare fraud.
According to Sheriff Timothy Thompson, investigators took Courtney B. Bower into custody on February 21, 2025. She has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
Authorities allege that Bower submitted a falsified application to the Seneca County Department of Human Services, which resulted in her receiving more than $1,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
Following her arrest, Bower was processed at the Seneca County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court at a later date for further legal proceedings.
