Ontario County First Responders Conduct Emergency Preparedness Drill at Thompson Hospital
First responders from multiple agencies gathered at Thompson Hospital last week to participate in a large-scale emergency preparedness drill designed to test and evaluate response plans for major emergencies.
The training exercise included members of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Canandaigua EMS, Canandaigua and Hopewell Fire Departments, Mercy Flight Central, the Department of Health, Ontario County Public Health, and other emergency response organizations.
Officials say drills like these are crucial for ensuring that agencies are equipped to handle catastrophic events that could impact the community. The exercise provided an opportunity for participants to assess coordination efforts, communication strategies, and emergency protocols in a controlled environment.
Emergency preparedness drills are conducted periodically to strengthen response capabilities and improve interagency collaboration. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to refine their skills and enhance readiness for real-world emergencies.
Community leaders and emergency officials continue to emphasize the importance of training exercises in maintaining public safety and ensuring an effective response in times of crisis.
