A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Shortsville Road in Farmington resulted in one person being transported to the hospital on Wednesday evening.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 5:08 p.m. A 2017 Jeep, driven by 26-year-old Courtney L. Smith of Farmington, was traveling east on Shortsville Road when it was struck on the driver’s side by a 2014 Honda. The Honda, operated by 18-year-old Connor M. Chapman of Canandaigua, had been traveling south on Sand Hill Road and had stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield the right of way before proceeding into the intersection.
The impact caused Smith’s vehicle to veer off the roadway and overturn. Smith reported head pain at the scene and was transported by Victor Farmington EMS to Thompson Hospital for evaluation. Chapman was issued a citation for failing to yield at a stop sign.
Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
